STORING BATTERY
The following method of preparing a battery for storage will prevent deterioration for many months, and the battery needs no attention in the form of periodical charging. First give the battery a full charge at its- normal rate, and then empty out the acid. Immediately each cell is empty, fill up with distilled water, and then discharge the battery through lamps at at rate of one-tenth of its 'amperehour capacity until the voltage has fallen to oue volt for each cell. Then draw off the water, and the battery is ready for storage. To put into commission again, proceed as if an initial charge were being given.
