TOURIST TRADE
GRADUAL RECOVERY visitor to rotorua confident of revival AMERICAN PARTIES COMING Speaking to a "Post" representative on Saturday Concerning the possihilities of an early revivaT in the tourist'trade of the Dominion, Mr. A. Thompson, manager of the Auckland hranch of Messrs. Thos. Cook aiid Son, tourist agents, said^-that af-t tliough signs of an improvement were evident, the volume of traffie was still . far below that of some years ago and in his opinion xvouid' take" a -cbnsidetabl© time to show 'any substantial -increase. * - ■- - .. .. The inclusion of Auckland by the Matson line as a po.rt of call for their modern line of steamers had, tq some extent he said, been the means of s bringing many tourists to the Dominion and the luxury travel provided was receiving much supp.ort. " With the increased confidence now evident in England and the conversion pf many steamers on the England-Neiv Zealand service into one class, dr . cahin class ships, a slow but sure revival in the numher of visitors from overseas could confideptly .be "looked for while there were also signs of increased traffie from Australia. Early next year, two Ameriean ■pleasure eruises had been arranged and in both of these New Zealand ports were to he included. It is probable, he said, that the* majority o'f passengers on these steamers ^would leave the" ships at Auckland and travel throngh the North Island, picking their ship up again in "Wellington some days later.
