WHAKATANE CROQUET CLUB OFFICIALLY OPENS SEASON

The croquet lawns on the Whakatane Domain presented a very gay appearance on Wednesday afternoon when more than 60 ladies enjoyed a garden party given by the ladies of the Whakatane Croquet Club. Various competitions were played and a most' enjoyable afternoon was spent. The lawns at present, are in excellent order and furth'er extensions have recently been completed which after the grass has grown, will allow of four full-sized greens being available for play. The results of the play were as follows: — Visitors' competition, Mrs; Murphy;
clock golf, Mrs. Campbell; target croquet, Mrs. List; ladder competition, Mrs. Chamberlain; angle shot, Mrs. Lord (Taneatua); other prize winners were Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Woolliams and Mrs. W. Bridger.
