Auckland, Wednesday. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report at Westfield their beef pens contained 307 head (215 steers, 92 cows and heifers) compared with 291 l'ast Wednesday. The major portion of the ox beef was excellent, but there was a sluggish demand, with a further decline in values, heavy cattle suffering most. Extra choice ox sold to 18s per 1001b, choice and prime 15s to 17s, secondary and plain 13s to 14s, prime young cow and heifer beef 14s to 16s, secondary 8s to 13s. Extra heavy prime steers ranged from £7 to £7 17s 6d, heavy £6 to £6 17s 6d, lighter £4 15s to £5 17s 6d, light. £4 to £4 12s 6d, small and unfinished £2 to £3 17s 6d, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £5 2s 6d to £6, heavy £3 10s to £4 15s, lighter £2 to £3 7s 6d, others 20s to 37s 6d.
