CYCLING

The Whakatane Athletic and Cycling Club staged a 21-mile road race on Saturday over the usual course. Results: — Brennan, 12m, 1; Benton, 6m, 2; Harland, 6m, 3. Aberhart, who rode the course in 55m 22s, secured fastest time and lowered the record for the course by 38 seconds. The road race from Te Puke to Whakatane, which will be run next Saturday, will finalise the road racing season.
