SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR IN AID OF ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH

A bazaar and sale of work to raise funds for St. George's Anglican Chureh was held in the King Street Hall on Thursday night. The stalls, which were prettily decorated with streamers, were placed to present a shopping square in the centre of the hall. During the evening a qttartette from the Whakatane Band entertained those present. The players were, Messrs. Fleetwood, Chamberlain, Loane and Shaw. The various stalls were conducted as follows: — Sweet atall, Mrs. Guest and Miss Morgan; produce, Mesdames Fraser, Kupai, Healy and Shaw; needlework, Mrs. Weymouth, Mrs. Fraserhurst, Mrs. Timbs and Mrs. Gee; bran tub, Mrs. Smedley and Mrs. W. Armstrong; ice cream, Mrs. Morgan; (lower stall, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. T. W. Thompson; cakes, Mrs. Hogg and Mrs. Newton; tea robins, Mesdames Stubbs, Mahoney, Orr, Arres and Mc. Carthy. The following were the winners of raffles : — Cakes, Mrs. Arres, 1; Mrs. Stewart, 2; ham, Mrs. Campbell; cushion, Mrs. Morgan; pyjamas, Mrs. Arres; nightdress, Miss Cooper.
