Melbourne, October 29. The heads of the banks discussed for three hours the scheme to raiso an internal loan of £8,000,000 for Australia, as pr-oposed by the Premiers' Conference. They failed to reach an agreement.
The Premiers' Conference proposed to raise a loan of £8,000,000 in Australia at par to bear interest at £3 15s per cent. with a currency of 10 years. The Commonwealth Bank -refused to underwrite the proposal under 4 per cent., but at the request of the Premiers, Sir Robert Gibson undertook to confer with the leading banks on the proposal.
