ANNUAL MEETING OF MOKORUA GOLF CLUB

The annual meeting of the Mokorua Golf Club was held in the borough chambers on Wednesday night, the president, Dr. Appelby, in the chair. In his annual report, Dr. Appelby stated that the club had shown marked progress during the past year. The links had been considerably improved and players had shown j good club spirit aryj enthusiasm Some j unemployed labour had been employ- j ed in cleaning the links of under- ) growth and- members had also assisted. Next season he hoped would find both the fairways and greens a pleasure to play on. The president wished to thank Mr. Melville for the assistance he had given the, club and for his permission to allow the greens on his property to be bunkered before next season. The bunkering will be carried out by the greenkeeper. The tournament held this year proved very successful and an ef- ' fort will be made to hold a similar tournament at an earlier date next season. The ladies deserved the thanks of the committee for the manner in which they had entertained and catered for visitors. In conclusion the president paid a tribute to all who had so ably assisted hiiii during his term of office. The election of officers for the coming year resulted as follows: — President, Mr. W. R. Sloane; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. M. Dewar, H. J. Ryde, J. Franklin, S. Armstrong; club captain, Mr. A. C. King; vicecaptain, Mr. Morrison; secretary, Dr. Appelby; treasurer, Mr. E. Hamill; ladies' captain, Mrs. King; vice-cap-tain, Mrs. E. Armstrong; secretary, Mrs. Appelby; committee, Mesdames Boon, Tennant, Jarrett, Sharkey and Misses Prideaux, Hill, Ryde and Balcer.
It was decided owing to th-e satisfactory financial position of the club that the subscriptions for the coming year be lowered by 5s. The fees for the ensuing year to be, men 12 18s, ladies £1 17s, and that there be no entrance fee. It was decided to grant the greenkeeper a fortnight's holiday, during which time his assistant would be in charge. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the retiring president.
