YOUTH DISCOVERED LYING DEAD AT FOOT OF BANK

Auckland, Tuesday. Leaving his home' at 12.30 p.m. yesterday to shoot rabhits at Orakei, GeofiVey Herman Reimers, a student, aged 19, did not return in th«| evening. A search was made by Constable Mclnness, of Remuera, and the youth was found dead at the bottom of a 20 foot hank at Orakei. Death was due to a gunshot wound over the right eye. A .22 calibre rifle was found at the top of the bank. Deceased was the only son of Mr. Herman Reimers, of 174 Remuera Road, and he was studying accountancy. The inquest was opened by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., this morning„ and after evidence of identification had been given it was adjourned sine die. It was stated at the inquest that it was quite evident Reimers had slipped down the bank and that the gun had been accidentally discharged, as when found, the rifle trigger was caught on the twig of a tree. Evidence was given that Reimers was on good terms with his parents and that he was not worried over any matter.
