Betting pbarts were fo,und" on the, premises, "^ich were , set up as a betting hquse. The men were in a big.way, and bookmaking was their business. Neither had been previppsly cqnvicted, and it was in their f avour that they had not come into Court to"tell a lot of lies, as frequeutly happened in such cases. They had been quite frank about the whole business. In support of the chargq the chief detective handed a pile' pf betting charts to the Bench. Both mei pleaded guilty, and neither hqd anything .tq say. Mr. A. Young, S.M., inflicted the maximnm penalty under the Act.
