FORGERY CHARGES
WANGANUI MAN SAYS HE HAS A COMELETE ANSWER. " COMMITTE'D FOR TRIAL. WellingtQn, Friday. The case in which Jabez William Mace Luxford, a member of the city council and other lopal bodies and a prominent business man, was charged with the forgery of documents, was continued to-day. Jack ^Williams, until recently superintendent of the fire brigade, said he had initialled all 17 vouchers (prpduced) as correct. That signified that goods had been received at the fire station. Gladys Kenning, a widow, formerly employed by Luxford, after examining a fire board vouche'r for £29 5s 9d, said she had signified it "Ross and Glendining" per "G.K." Those were her initials and were written by her at th'e time. Detective Walsh: How did you come to do that? Witness/ I was instructed by Luxr ford. Luxford hrought the Ross anc. Glendining stationery into thq office. Comm'itted for Trial. "We will reserve our 'defpnce," Mr. W. J. Treadwell said, wben a plea pf not guilty was entered. "An explanar tion that, will be entirely satisfactory will be made at a' proper time and place, gj,nd the defence we wiR subr mit will' be incontrovertible." .Accused was committed to the Sui preme ' Court at Wanganui fpr" trial.
