-By Telegraph — Copyrlght).
Rec. Oct. 23, 5.5 p.m. Lqndon, Oct. 22. Anxiety is felt for the safety of three young naval officers, _ McMullin, ICeys and Claxland, wlro were caught in a severe ehannel gale while returning to Portsmouth from Havre in a 16-foot sloop, the Little Owl. The vessel left in company with another small yacht, the Wallace-, sailed by three other officers, including P aymast er-Li eutenant McMullin, brother of one of the missing men. After eneountering terrific seas, the officers on the Wallace, which had previously lost contact with the Little Owl, were picked up in an exhausted condition off Selby Bill, by the steamer Mary Ellen. Shortly after their rescue the gale reached a velocity of 70 miles an hour. It is considered that the only hope for the missing men is that they may have been picked up by a vessel not equipped with wireless. ,
