SILENCE

THRILLING DRAMA AND VERSATILE i ACTING. I I MAJESTIC ON SATURDAY. An intensely human story is the : background for the exciting melo- ; drama, "Silcncc," which cpcns at the Majestic Theatre, with Clive Brook, the charming Marjorie Rambeau and : the fiaming-haired P^ggy Shannon in i | the leading roles. 1 "Silence" gives Ereok an epj ortunity to portray a great human charac- j ter, and the suave and polished star ' | takes every advantage of the oppor- ! i tunity. Sup>nort°d hy two capahle | and ber.utiful actressas, Brook sounds the dep^hs of a man's soul in a series of adventures, escapades, trials and disillustionments that bring him finally to the superb sacrifice to save his own dqughter's reputation. Peggy Shannon displays a new act- , ing flare in "Silence" which bears out i the promise of versatility contained in her role in "The Seeret Call." She is dramatie, colourful, emotional, and, withal, interestingly gay and alive. Playing two roles in this one pieture, that of the wife and, later, the daughter of Brook, she manages hy sheer , talent to keep the two characters separate and distmct and interesting. The action of he pieture takes place over a period of twenty or more years, and the early scqucnces give vivid and interesting life to the "good old days" , before the war. The latter scenes, ' taking place in a modern Middle West City, co'.icentrate all tbe fcrce of the drama in terse and thrilling climatie 1 incidents. "Silence" is drama taken from life, ' real, thrilling, bellevably portrayed.
