ALLEGED FRAUD

William Wright appeared before the Magistrate's Court at Opotiki on Wednesday afternoon Charged with intent to defraud in that he obtained bread .and groceries valued at £2 14s ld from W. J. Hartley by falsely representing that the good? were required for a hui at Opape Pa and that they would he paid for by Paora Taia. Wright appeared before the court again on Thursday morning charged with intent to defraud Thomas Joseph Palmer of pork to the value of £3 18s 3d by falsely representing that pork was required for a hui at Opape and that it would be paid for by Paora Taia. He was committed to the Supreme Court at Gisborne for trial.
