RELIEF MEN TO BE PAID BUT NOT ASKED TO WORK

Wellington, Thursday. The Minister of Labour, the. Hon.. Adam Hamilton, announeed yestqiday that it had heen decided by . the Unemploynxent Boax'd that where, ih the. ordinary course, Labour Day would have heen one of the days on which relief workers would have been allotted work next week, such wofk- " ers will not now be required to work that day. The'board's certifying officers were cii'cularised to this. effect and were also advised that the nxexx are to be paid as though they had worked, and that they will not be required to mahe up the time.
