— By Teleerau'h — Coovrierhtl.
Rec. Oct. 20. 5.5 p.m. San Francisco, Oct. 19. „.A charge that Canadian markets for 10,000,000 dollars worth of Californian oranges yearly had heen destroyed by the RepUblican SmoOtHawley tariff bill, was made by Mr. William Gibbs MaeAdoo, Californian Democrat nominee for the United States Senate. He went to Canada in 1930, and he stated that to-day the niarket is cltised by reason of the new retaliatory tariffs of a dollar a box, imposed by Canada 'on oranges from the IT.S.A. This was not to protedt home industry, but to retaliate against the exorbitant and excessive tariffs pl'aced on Canadian products by tlie Smoot-Hawley bill.
