| TO-NIGHT Whether you are a football fan or not, you will get a real thrill from seeing "The Spirit of Notre Dame," I which opens an engagement at the Grand Theatre on Thursday, October 20. The picture stars Lew Ayres, as a country boy just entering Notre Dame U'niversity, and later, in his junior year, becomes the ball-carrv-

ing hero of the team, definitely headed for AlLAmerican selection in the following season. But there arises a situation which interferes with these plans, and eventually brings the young football star to a point wh'ere he forgets the spirit animating the ' team, and becomes an outcast in the eyes of his fellow players. This portion of the picture is fraught with drama, and the boyish Lew makes the most of every scene. The entire production is filled with the spdrit of football, and the sportsmanship that buiias championship teams, and the east comprises some of the greatest players in the history developed by the late coach, Knute Rockne at Notre Dame. These include Frank Carideo, twice AllAmeriean quarter-back, "The Four Horsemen," Moon Mullins, John Law, ^clam Walsh, A1 Howard, Bucky O'Connor, Art McManmon and many other noted players. And these boys £ reveal themselves as capable actors, 111! as well as footplayers of the first ["J degree.
