MAJESTIC
TO-DAY AND TO -NIGHT. The predicament of a spineless man who is foreed to make ardent love to an actress, with whom he has become infatuated, under the watchful eyes ofTiis fiancee will give filmgoers ample cause for much fun and merriment wh'en they see "A Perfect Lady," showing at the Majestic Theatre on Thursday next. Lord Touy Carderay, who is engaged to Lady Anne Burnuett, falls under the spell of a "gold-digging" actress, J eanette Dubarry, but instead of breaking off the engagement Anne ohtains a pcsition as Jeanette's maid in order to study her rival's charms. Matters become very complicated when Tony arrives, followed quickly by another elderly admirer, the hus-, hand of one of Anne's friends, and Anne, herself, falls in love with a Canadian backwoodsman who has also become a victim of Jeanette's wiles. How th'e actress is eventually shown up in her true colours, and how Anne captures her shy strong lie-man, is amusingly and charmingly told in this film, adapted from Frederick Jackson's play by Milton Rosmer and Frank Launder. Moira Lynd has her first leading part as Lady Anne, playing opposite Harry Wilcoxon, who makes his tallcie debut as the Canadian.
