SHEEP PRICES SHOW RISE OVER LAST WEEK BEEF ALSO RISING The general tone of the. stock market is distinctly firmer this week as the following reports show: — The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on their tri-weekly Cambridge stock sale held on Tuesday, as follows: — Cattle: — The yarding of fat and store cows was an average one of mostly medium quality. The demand was steady although values showed a declining* tendency. A large entry of yearling heifers met with splrited eompetition, practically the whole of the offering finding buyers at prices very firm on recent quotations. Dairy cows and heifers of good quality were in lceen demand, while for inferior sorts bidding slackened slightly. Light ox beef, £4 9s; medium fat cows, £3 10s to £4 5s; lighter quality, £2 12s 6d to £3 7s 6d; light and unfinished, £1 18s to £2 10s; good stores, £1 ls to £1 13s; poorer, 14s to £1; best quality yearling heifers, £3 15s to £4 11s; medium sorts, £2 15s to £3 10s; poorer conditioned, £1 10s to £2 5s; inferior up to £1 5s; good dairy cows, £8 to £9 5s; medium sorts £6 5s to £7 15s; poorer conditioned, £4 15s to £5 10s; medium dairy heifers, £6 to £8 10s; poorer quality, £4 10s to £5 15s; others up to £4.
Pigs: — A fuil entry or pigs, comprising* mostly stores and weaners, made late rates. Ligh't bacon.ers, £1 11s to £1 15s; heavy porlcers, £1 6s to £1 10s; medium porkers, £1 3s to £1 6s; light, 19s to £1 2s; large stores, 17s to 19s; medium, 14s to 16s; smaller, 12s to 14s; large weaners, 8s to 11s; smaller, 5s to 8s.
