STRONG PROTEST
APPAREL MANUFACTURERS ANXIOUS REGARDING OTTAWA EFFECTS RESOLUTION CARRIED Christchurch, Tuesda,y. At a largely attended meeting of apparel manufacturers held to-day, a very strong protest was recorded against the contemplated reductions in the tariff as a result of the Ottawa agreement, and the following resolu- ! tion was un.animously carried : "At a meeting of apparel . manufacturers affected by the Ottawa tariff reductions, the i f eeling is very strong that the , following action should be taken : ; Individual firms throughout New Zealand should he asked to protest emphatically to the Prime , Minister, members of Gabinet, s and thep: own Parliamentary representatives. It is also cpnsidered vital by the interests affected ithat -a -deputation wait on r members ,of Parliament .concerning tbe far Teaching affect of ) the co.ntemplated reductions and ) the loss to Dominion industry and operators.
