DE VALERA DENIES DESIRE TO ESTABLISH A REPUBLIC

Rec. Oct. 17, 5.5 p.m. Lcmdon, October 16. Mr. de Valera denies that he intends seeking a mandate to establish a Republic stated the Irish spokesman. The discussions hinged on the 1925 financial agreement, which Britain deelared was valid and represented a final settlement. The Free State contended that it was not valid, because it was never ratified by hoth sides. "I see no possibility of a compromise on any point at present."
