Before an enthusiastie crowd of 30,000, Mr. Herbert Ho over delivered his second campaign speech, in which he comhined militant support for protective tariff and the. denunciation of his critics. In oue instance he described as lies the' propaganda, allegedly distribnted from the Democrats' headquarters, that he had participated in a shady deal, contracting Chinese labourers to work- mines in Sonth Africa. The speech was largely directed to labour, which he said had been saved from immeasurable suffering due to tariffs now that the labour monetary standard in many parts of the world was so low. He again insisted that Amerlca was the victim of economic and political dislocation aboard, which neither the tariff nor over speculation on Wall Street had precipitated.
