Sydney, October 15. Alfred Johnston, who had ammonia thrown in his face in the hold-.up.-in a Sydney street on September 29, has become totally blind. , Doctors have striven to save his sight, but the powerful chemieal injured hoth eyes. A daring robbery was committed in one of the main streets of Sydney on Thursday, September 29. Mr. Francis Seckhold, who has charge of the William Street Post Office, was carrying £530 to a neighbouring office for the payment of old age and invalid pensions when thieves seeured, the money hy a carefully arranged coup. Mr. Seckhold was aceompanied by an assistant, Mr. Alfred Johnston, who was armed. When they had gone 100 yards through' the crowded thoroughfare, two men dressed . in overalls, threw the contents of a hueket of liquid in the postal officials' faces. Blinded and choking, ■ apparently from fumes of some sort, Mr. Johnston was knocked down and disarmed. Then Mr. Seckhold was felled to the ground and his hag was seizpd. The attackers rau away. ,
