WOMAN WHO SHRANK
How a woman who was once nearly 6ft tall shrank to less than 5ft was described at a Paddington (London) inquest recently. She was Miss May Kate Ginelly, aged 50, formerly a nurse of York. A friend who knew her 12 years ago said sh'e was then nearly 6ft tall. Dr. Goldsmith, house surgeon at Middlesex Hospital, said Miss Ginelly was admitted on July 15, suffering from osteitis fifrosa, a very rare disease of all the bones. She sank into a coma and died while a local anaestthetie was being injected. Sir -Bernard Spilsbury said the disease was associated with the loss of lime salts from the bones and their replacement by fihrous tissue, while the bones bej came full of cavities. Mr. Oddie re- ' eorded a verdict of death hy misadventure.
