Rec. Oct. 13, 10.20' p.m. Sydney, Oct. 13. In the "Wizard" Smith libel ease, plaintiff, Smith, was cross-examined by Mr. Watt, K.C. for the' defence, who ascertained that Smith reeedved certain sums for iriformation supplied to a section of the press, but Smith refused to say how much. Mr. Watt insisted that the amount should be stated and said that it went to Smith' s credit. Mr. Watt added that he desired to prove that Smith got more than £1000 which was a very g'ood reason why he should stage a fiasco. Smith said that he had a letter agreeing to pay him £100 of which £50 had been paid. Mr. Watt questioned plaintiff about the fire in the car's engine, the conditions of Ninety-Mile Beach and also about the attempt for the five mile record. The hearing was adjourned.
