FOOTBALL

The Bay of Plenty Maori touring team beat Manakau Rovers at Onehunga on Saturday by 17 to 11. The local people were very interested in the match and the Maoris in town last night were very joyful over the result. No partieulars are available yet as to the strength of the Manakau team, but the team on paper appeared to be similar to the usual fifteen fielded. Nevertheless trips such as this tend to give an impetus to the game and some of the Maoris in the touring team liad never previously been in Auckland.
