CYCLING
The Whakatane Athletie and Cycling Club staged a road race on Saturday over a 31 mile course. The race was a very severe one, a stiff' headwind proving a handicap over a portion of the course. The winner was A. Stewart, who rode off a 2J minute mark. Whitten, from scratch, rode a good race to secure fastest time in 84 minutes 20 seconds. The race was a try-out for the riders who are competing in the Cambridge, to Auckland road race on October 14.
