A five-roomed house, owned by Mr. A. S. Fleming, solicitor of Auckland, and occupied by a Mr. Ford, was burned to the ground early on Saturday morning. No evidence is available as to the origin of the fire which had a good hold before the alarm was given. Nothing whatever was saved. Mr. Ford had only very recently taken possession, and was expecting his wife to join him~during the next week. Insurance on the. house totalled £650 and was held by the State Office. The furniture risk is held by the I.O.A.
