THE BIG SHOT
ONE OF HOLLYWOOD'S STRONGEST CASTS STARRING. COMEDY AND DRAMA. "The Big Shot," Eddie Quillan's latest -starring vehicle which opens on Thursday at the Grand Theatre, brings to the talking sereen something new in hlm entertainment ideas. The new idea is that of placing a fihn story against the colourful hackground of the great American institution, the auto camp, dear to the hearts of millions who choke the nation's highways in pursuit of business and pleasure. Against this background revolves Eddie Quillan's latest starring story, a story choclc full of cornedy and drama, and one which is bound to please every member of the family because of its downright humanness. Quillan is a small-town boy with big ideas. He is also gullible; so
much so, in fact, that he attempts to enter the world of Big Business by purchasing an auto camp without first examining the property. There follow troubles galore. And to make matters worse his sweetneart throws .him down flat without the benefit of an explanation. How Quillan puts the j auto camp on a paying basis and wins . his sweetheart makes for a photo- j play which undoubtedly will- take its place among the season's best. The clmiax is 'exceptionally thrilling. The producers have surrounded the star with one of the strongest casts ever assemhled in Hollywood, among which are three beloved one-time stars — Mary Nolan, Belle. Bennett and Ralph Ince. Opposite Quillan is the charming Maureen O'Sulivan. Other plays who contrihute first-rate characterisations are Rosco Ates, as a stuttering barber, Arthur Stone, Louis John Bartels, Otis Harlan, Harvey Clark and others.
