CHRISTCHURCH SUN NOW CITED FOR BREACH OF PRIVILEGE
Wellington, Fridaj'. The Financial debate, in the House of Representatives, was mterrunted by Mr. D. McDougall (Government — Mataura) who. rising to a point oi ordor, drew attention to a report in j tho Christchurch Sun of yesterday, i referring to a question asked of the Acting-Minister of Employ'ment, which had not yet been answered. Ho eonsidered the statements eontained in tho report retiected on all mem- j bers of the House. The Clerk of the House, Mr. T. D. II. Hall, read the report which wa? headed: 'An M.P. Criticised" ; "Discussion at meeting of Progress League." Mr. Speaker said the usual course when the House decided a breach of pviviloge had been committed was for the Speaker to write to the editor, publisher, and othe.rs'concerned, asking for an explanation. In thc present case it might be better to refer the matter to the Committee of rrivih'ge, and that would prevcnt any hastj' dccision being arrived at. On the motion of the Hon. E. A. Rar.som, aeting-Lcader oi the Ilouse, the matter was referrea to thc Committee. of Privilege.
