BRADMAN'S CONTRACT CONTROL BOARD FORBIDS JOURNALISTIC work / OFFER FOR RELEASE

Don Bradman's application to be allowed to fulfil the terms of his contract to write for Associated Newspapers, Limited, has been refused by the Cricket Board of Gontrol. Bradman pointed out that he could not truthfully say that his sole oecupation is journalism, in which event ho could escape the player-writer ban. He also emphasised that he was party to another contract to a sports goods firm, by whom be was parttime employed. He insisted that he must be able
to fulfil the terms of his contract, which was made at the time he received a lucrative offer to play in England. Associated Newspapers have offered to release Bradman from writing on the subject of first-class cricket.
