Wellington, Friday. Awakened at one o'clock this morning by someone entering his "bach" at Haywards, in the Hutt Valley, Mr. W. A. Cowell, manager of the Cottleville dairy, was attacked and blindfolded, and, not being in good health, was nnable to prevent himself from being bound. He feigned unconsciousness and the intruder stole £7 11s from a desk. The whole affair took place in the , dark. After the man left Mr. Cowell got free and gave the alarm. The police later arrested Alfred Jamies Gorrie (20) at his place. of vesidence at Belmont, and Tie was charged with breaking, entering and theft, and was remanded. It was stated that the money had been reeovered from a hiding-place on the roadside.
