The New Zealand Loan and Mcrcantile Agency Company, report: — • At Westfield beef was penned in large numbers, and although there was a fair demand generally values were again easier. Extra choice ox sold to 22s per 1001b., choice and prime, 18s to 21s; ordinary and plain ox, 15s to 17s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18s to 21s; ordinary cow beef, 14s to 17s. Heavy prime steers ranged from £7 15s to £8 17s 6d; lighter, £6 10s to £7 12s 6d; light, £5 to £6 7s 6d; unfinished and small, £2 10s to £4 15s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 15s to £6 10s; heavy £4 17s 6d to £5 12s 6d; lighter, £4 to £4 15s; light, £2 15s to £3 15s; other cows, 25s to 50s.
