Ford, gave evidence that Pittar had been caught on the Rotorua-Taupo Road with a load of posts weighing over 5 tons. Reid was fined £1 and 12s costs for driving a vehicle without a heavy traffic license. Sale of a Car. Four charges of breaches of the motor regulations were brought j against Cornelius John Williamson, who was represented by Mr. W. A. Carter. Mr. E. Roe said that defendant had purchased a car from a dealer and had received some papers. He had failed to register the car and had also driven it without taking out a driver's license. He had also picked up a number plate and used it on the car. The local body took a serious view of this since, defendant had been running his car without a license, carrying a wrong number and no insurance. Had a fatal accident occurred, the consequences would have been disastrous. Mr. Carter explained that it had been a most unfortunate set of circumstances. Williamson was a grader driver and when he bought tlie car had received some .papers which he thought were quite in order. When he took them to register the car, he found that a signature was missing and went all over the district looking for the man, who wa§ 1 a rabbitter, without success. Certainly he had picked up a number plate, but his brother had put it on the car in a joke. Williamson had removed it. Later his job on the grader had altered and he had not renewed his driver's license. One day the grader ran out of benzine and Williamson had used his car to bring some. This was, the act of the offence. The Bench fined him a total of £4, with costs £2 14s. A request for the suppression of his name was refused.
