RUGBY SUB-UNION

WEEKLY MEETING FINAL MATCH OF SEASON TO BE PLAYED NEXT SATURDAY MORRINSVILLE V. ARAWA CLUB j The usual weekly meeting of the Rotorua Rugby sub-Union was held last evening, the president, Mr. T, S. Robertson, occupying the chair. In reply to an application made by the union for inclusion in a monster ; art union, a letter was received from the under-secretary, Department of Internal Affairs, advising that the application had heen noted, but pointing out that due to the number of applications already received some considerable time would elapse before the application could be approved. Advice was received that the Morrinsville representatives would be visiting Rotorua next Saturday and it was decided that an Arawa Tribal Team be played against the visitors. The curtain-raiser will be between the 'Kahukura Club and The Rest of the junior grades.

Some discussion occurred m connection with the entertainment of the Morrinsville players, the precar- ( ious position of the union's finances causing a division of opinion as to the advisability of providing a dinner for the two teams. While all present were agreed that the union should endeavour to suitably entertain its visitors and also acknowledge the assistance granted by the Arawa Tribal Club, it was pointed out by the president that as this match would be the final opporunity for the union to accrue funds, he considered that the present cornmittee should endeavour to settle its liabilities before contracting further expenses. Mr. A. de Luen considered that the excellent game provided last Saturday had g-reatly enhanced the possibilities of a record gate for the game against Morrinsville, and in this view : he was supported by Mr. T. Anderson, his motion that both teams be entertained at a dinner being carried.
