RACE CLUB SECRETARY ADMITS THEFT OF FUNDS

Auckland, Monday. Frederick Derichar McVay in the Police Court to-day, adixiitted that while secretary of the Takapuna Jockey Club he stole £644 belonging to the club. In a statement accused said he was assistant secretary from 1922 to 1927, when he was appointed secretax^y. Towards the end of 1928 he got into financial difficulties and found it essential to borrow money. He took the anxount he required from the club's funds. Later he found himself more involved and took more lxioney up to June last. In August the auditor began his investigation and accused thexx placed the whole position before him. Accused was committed for sentence. Bail was allowed, though at his own request he had been in custody since his arrest last Thux-sday.
