league of nations OUTSTANDING SUBSCRIPTIONS MAY CAUSE A CRISIS VERY MANY BAD DEBTS

Rec. Sept. 26, 7.0 p.m. London, Sept. 26. The Daily Express Geneva correspondent, referring to the financial crisis, stated that the League of Nations council has been officially informed that another such year will cause the League to go into bankruptcy. The current year started with £944,000 owing to the League. Only 11 countries out of 56 paid in full for the current year. Great Britain paid the largest subscriptioix, £182,000, but France, Italy, Japan, South American Republics, New Zealand and Australia all owe money. Thus far only 43 per cent. of the subscriptions have been paid. The League expects France, Italy and Japan to pay, but the majority of the others are doubtful or bad.
