Simultaneously with the declaration of the Free State Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Sean Lemass in a speech at Loughrea that the Cabinet wanted to settle the Anglo-Irish dispute, but would not be bullied to this end, Mr. Desmond Fitzgerald (who was Minister for Defence in the Cosgrave Cabinet), announced the decision of the Cosgrave party to exert pressure to foree Mr. de Valera to end the economic war with England.
