Although it was stated to-day that he showed some slight improvement the condition of Mr. Lewis Taylor, i-ilot of the 'plane whicli crashed at Johnsonville, is still regarded as critical. . Mr. Arnaud de Tourettes was still 'n bed to-day. A member of the family stated that he was not at all well, and they were thinking of get- • inp; a doctor to see him. An inspection of the wreckage has 1 een made by Squadron-Leader Stedraan, pilot instruetor to the WellingJon Aero Club, and Flight-Lieutenant A. D. T. Nevill, staff officer to the Director of Air Services. Subsequently the remains of tbe 'plane were taken to the Rongotai r.erodrome. Squadron-Leader Stedman said he "/as satisfied there was 110 failure of ihe eontrols. The machine was a com- » lete wreck. They were finding nuts and bolts and things lilce that, but liaving been through the fire these were practioally valnelcs-. Mr. de Tourettes was not in a fit condition when he saw him yesterday to answer questions as to what the trouble had been. Flight-Lieutenant Nevill states that nresent indications show that the 'plane devoloped engine trouble. The club would hold an inquiry and there might possibly he hn official inquiry conducted by the Civil Aviation Departmcnt.
