YOUNG MAN FORGES P.O. WITHDRAWAL SLIPS

Onehunga, Friday. Pleading guilty to three eharges of torgery, a young man, Edward John Evans, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. II. I). Evans, aecused's brother, said that in June, on his r.eturn from Ngaruawahia, he missed his Post Office Savings Banlt hook from his lorne. His aceount was then £76 in i-redit. In July he recovered the hook from his brother and he then found that the credit balance had diminished to £6. The signatures on 'ho three withdrawal slips produced vere forgeries. Witness said that his brother was about to be married at the time the money was withdrawn and was in urgent need of funds. • The present proceedings had been instituted against ir. wish and he did not desire that accused should he punished. Bail in the sum of £75 was allowr d, accused being ordered to report daily to the police.
