ANNUAL SECONDARY AND PRIMARY PUPILS' FIXTURES GOOD TIMES RECORDED

The annual steeplechase for both primary and high school pupils was held on Wednesday afternoon, and created great interest. The contest was run over a circuitous course, cross countryr a distance approximating four miles. The primary school entrants totalled 85 and those from the high school, 85. Limit boys in the primary race received 10 £ minutes handicap. The results were: — W. Matthews (7min), 1; H. Atkinson (Smin), 2; W. Green (4£min), 3. Fastest time was gained by T. Green with actual running time of 30min. 46ses. In the senior contest, an excellent finish resulted in V. Timbs (lmin 30 secs) beating A. Stewart (l.min), by one yard. An inquiry was held after the race and it was found that Timbs had missed one point in the run and had thereby gained fifteen yards. The positions of the two fxrst to finish were therefore reversed and the final placings were: — A. Stewart (lmin), 1; V. Timbs (lmin 30sec), 2; G. Tippett (2min 15sec), 3. Fastest time A. Stewart whose actual running time was 29min 6sec. The winner in each section holds a cup for one year and the second is awarded a gold medal.
