EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Wellington, Thursday. In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Mr. D. W. Coleman (Gisborne) asked wether the Government would immediately consider granting financial assistance to local bodies and others in the areas afflicted by the recent earthquake. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, said that the matter would be considered when the Government had received the report from the Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, Mr. F. W. Furlcert.
