RIFLE SHOOTING
USUAL WEEKLY SHOOT L. DORNBUSH DEFEATS E. C. ADOLPH IN AGGREGATE LADIES' MATCH The usual weekly shoot of the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club held at the Drill Hall on Monday night, again attracted a large attendance of members, 53 taking part. As this was the last series for the year, it was expected that a falling off of attendance would result, but contrary to expectations the. attendance of members was well maintained. E. C. Adolph and L. Dornbush continued their duel in the self-handicap aggregate competition, the former winning with a seore of 68 without his handicap of four. His opponent also gave himself a handicap of four and scored 61. In the shoot-off for second place in the aggregate handicap, L. Dornbush won with a good score of 67, an unlucky shot by E. Adolph losing him three points and the match. Following are the scores of those who compiled 57 or over off the rifle in the championship series (possible 70) :— W. Bates, 70; W. Winslade, 69; W. Ladies' Scores The ladies' championship series resulted as follows: — Miss V. Ferguson, 63; Miss D. Adolph, 62; Miss M. Yuill, 62; Miss K. Gordon, 58; Mrs. N. McNair, 56; Miss R. Owens, 55; Miss A. Steele, 55; Miss W. Worrall, 55; Mrs. S. D. Russell, 54; Miss M. West, 53; Miss J. McKibbon, 50; Mrs. W. Wishnowsky, 50; Miss M. Bates, 50. Weekly Sutton Winners A Grade: Miss Y. Ferguson; B grade: Miss M. Yuill; C grade: Miss K. Gordon; D grade: Miss A. Steele. Rangitaiki Club The Rangitaiki Club fired for Mrs. C. Jespersen's trophy on Saturday last. The weather was fine, but the light changing every few minutes made shooting poor. Three tied for the trophy. W. Moore won it with the highest score off the rifle. The conditions were 10 shots at 200 yards. The next competition will be held on October 1, when the club will fire for Mr. R. L. Innis' trophy. Last Saturday's scores were as follows : — W. Moore, 44; Mrs. W. Moore, 44; J. Follas, 44; Morey, senr., 43; E. Morey, jnr., 41; C. Jespersen, 40; A. Jespersen, 40; President R. Wilson, 37; E. Hill, 37.
