One of tbe most suecessful social . functions of .the season was the children's fancy dress ball organised by the Opotiki Band committee on Fri- j day evening. ! The prize winners for the best j fancy dresses were: — Bo Peep (Loris 1 Clark) ; Old Motber Hubbard (Alan Armstrong), Miclcey Mouse (Fred Bennett), Traffic Control (Jean Gri--fflths), Butterfly (Josephine Horne), Harlequin (Betty Walker), Sailor Boy (Dareey Glover), Jockey (Newton Abbott), Speed King (David Griffiths), Dick Whittingtoia (Don Croll), Sign Post (Ted Pipe), Holly (Jack Iilslcip). Most original boy, J. G. Coates (Barry Mortenson) ; most original girl, Rugby Pipe Tobacco (Dora Snell) ; humorous boy, Grandpa (Chas. Shalfoon).
