ASSASSIN DIES MURDERER OF M. DOUMER GUILLOTINED AT DAWN NO WABNING OF DEATH

Bcc. Sept. 14, 8,30 p.m. Paris, Sept. 14. Gougoloff, the murderer of President Doumer, was guillotined at dawn. Crowds in the evening paraded the Boulevarde Arago over the spot in front of the Sante Prison, where at the dead of night the guillotine was erected. Only thoso furnished with permits witnessed the execution. Gougoloff had no warning of the imminence of death until half an hour previously. His wife called to pay her usual Tuesday visit, but was refused admission. Tho condemned man spent the last night of his life in handcuffs in a cell sliared with another prison er. The light was never extinguished in the chamber. His counsel, M. Henri Giraud, entered the prison before dawn with a Russian priest. An interpreter said Gougoloff's wife would claim the assassin's body. A great crowd gathered in the vicinity of the prison at midnight, but only soldiers, police officials and those connected with the case, saw the gruesome scene. elosely. In his last words, Gougoloff said that lio was neither a monarchist nor j a Communist. He had nothing against | France or President Doumer. He hop- 1 ed that the child shortly expected would he trained to follow his principles. He added: "Forgive me everyone, Oh Russia, my country." He died courageously.
