THE BLUE BATHS
work curtailed NOT SUFFICIENT FUNDS FOR COP4PLETION AT PRESENT OPENING NOT DELAYED It is understood that instructions have been received from the head ofdce of the Public Worlcs Department, Wellington, terminating work on the Blue Baths as soon as the construction of the swimming- pool and dress.'ng rooms is completecT. So far as can be ascertained, funds are not sufficient to carry out the hling of the main pool and this will be deferred until next year. Funds will be insufficient also to complete No. 3 wing which embraces the tea■ooms, and main entrance. The work will be pushed. forward =o far as avaijable funds permit, and it is anticipated that the pool and building will be suffieiently completed to allow the bath to be opened for the holiday season. The building and tiling work on the main pool will be left in very much the same position as was the case when the juvenile pool, at present in use, was opened. It is estimated that the tiling of the main pool will cost approximately £2000 and the appropiiations for next financial year will determine the final eompletion of the work.
