— By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. Sept. 13, 8.5 p.m. Portland, Maine, Sept. 12. The Maine elections are held some six weeks prior to the general elections, and the results are taken as the so-called national barometer. The Democrats based their campaign largely on the repeal of the Eighteenth amendment, while the. Republicans were non-committal or dry.
