Ladies' and men's h'oekey teams from Te Puke played friendly matches with Whakatane teams on the Domain on Saturday. Results: — Ladies: Whakatane 2 goals (Miss Ratene 1, Miss Brown 1), Te Puke, nil. Men: Whakatane, 4 goals (Brown 2, Bridg-er 1, Murray 1), Te Puke 3 goals (Chapman 2, Roberts 1.) The match was keenly contested and was really a try out for Whakatane who intend to challenge Tauranga next Wednesday, September 14, for the Kusabs Shield. Whakatane lost the shield to Tauranga a fortnight ago by 5 goals. to 1, after h'aving held the trophy since 1927. A team of ladies journeyed from Te Kaha on Saturday and played a match against the Whakatane ladies on the Domain. The Te Kaha ladies played good hockey and their appearasice on the field was the subject of much comment on account of their particularly smart appearance. Their uniform of red tunic and skirt and long blaci stockings "was uniform" and the e: ample could he copied with advantag by many teams who take the field in

costumes of varying lengths and colour^. Results: Te Kaha 1, Whakatane 1. A curtain raiser between Te Teko and Paroa was won by Paroa by 2 goals to 1.
