Our District Representative)

GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE AT FLAT ' ROCK

(From

The work of repairing the groyne in the Whakatane River opposite the wharf has been put in hand by the Harbour Board, states our Whakatane correspondent. The contractors so far have made good progress. About 500 ti-tree stakes and large bundles of facines are on the river bank, while i the men are at present blasting rock for the filling. It is eonfidently anticipated that the workv when completed, will result in deepening the channel and will prevent the silting up of the bed of the river at a point known as Flat Rock.
