Palmerston N., Monday. "This committee strongly protests against the action of the board in reducing the allocation, and insists upon its reinstatement pending the arrival of a deputation from this committee on Wednesday. The committee further protests against the sending of local men to the Masterton camp. Unless the conditions are relaxed there is no option left to this committee but to resign and allow the board to ciarry on." The foregoing is the text of a resolution carried by th'e Palmerston) North Unemployment Committee this morning, when the board's intimation of a reduced allocation was received, also an instruction to send 50 local single men to Masterton. The adoption of the resolution followed the hearing of the representations of two deputations. Arrangements were made for a deputation from the committee to wait on the authorities at Wellington on Wednesday.
